Oh what an interesting weekend... :) You gotta love that there is never a dull moment in the Bugbee house. Things were going just fine on Friday night and all day Saturday....nice and quiet. Then Saturday night Chris and I started noticing that the heater downstairs was starting to act up a little bit. Saturday night it decided to go out completely. Um ok... :( I mean the house is not even 5 years old. What in the world? :( All I have to say is that it was freezing temps in Austin this past weekend, and into early this week-18-20ish degrees overnight, and highs in the 30's during the day. So you have to love not having heat during that time. :) And of course home warranty companies are great...UNLESS you have something happen over the weekend. They are open to file claims but none of their contractors seem to want to come to your house to fix anything. Boo!! :(
We decided we could handle it...no big deal. Annoying but we'd make it. :) We slept really well on Sat night b.c the heat was kicking upstairs. :) Sunday we went to church and Sunday School and then headed to lunch, ran lots of errands, etc. We were gone from like 9-4 pm, so that we would not have to stay in the freezing cold downstairs all day. I mean you can only hang out upstairs in your house for so long, ya know? Thank the Lord for dual heat and ac though!! :)
Fast forward to Sunday night around 8 pm, and we are all downstairs getting some things done..and using space heaters to keep warm. Well I guess the space heaters tripped the braker or something...and the electricity went out. Gotta love it!! :) Chris was able to get everything working outside of the living room. Something was still wrong with that part of the house. So we decided to go ahead and call it a night b.c we were tired from the drama. We headed up to bed, and happened to look at the thermostat in the hall upstairs on the way to our room. It was already reading 69 degrees (cooler than what I had set it at when I put Braden to bed a couple hours earlier). Hmmmmmmm. :( Not good. :( So we watched and waited, and dang it if that heater did not go out too!! Geez!! Have I mentioned that it is really starting to become cold in the house at this point? :(
We wondered if we needed to get a hotel or what the heck we were supposed to do. Since it was already almost 11 pm, we decided to put the pack n play in our room, bundle Braden up, bundle ourselves up, put space heaters in our bedroom, and close all of the doors. So our little family of three slept all cuddled up in the master bedroom.....and believe it or not, it was cozy! We all slept until 8 am...bring it on! :) Once you ventured out of the doors of the bedroom though, you had better be ready!! I think it ended up being about 58 degrees in the house by the time they came and fixed everything on Monday.
Good news is that we survived and we have had lots of technicians at our house this week already-heater peeps, electrician peeps, oh and Time Warner (b.c I failed to mention that we had cable and DVR issues too)!! And Chris had a tire that was going flat in the Altima on Monday...just to add a little icing on the cake. YAY!! So fun!! :)
I thank the Lord that we live in a country where you can call people up and they run out and fix things for you so quickly! What a blessing!! :) And it taught us that we can live really cozily in a one bedroom place...so now we are extremely grateful for our entire home! HA! :)
