We Love Playdates!

We had a fun time on Friday when my friends Amy and Jenny came over with their babies for a playdate. :) Well....really a "mom-date"! Ha!! Since our babies are so small I am not sure you can call it a playdate just yet....but we will be able to soon! :) Amy's twins were born just 4 weeks after Braden, and Jenny's son was born a week after that. So it is fun to have them all so close together in age. :)

Braden just hung out and played a little by himself!! LOL! :) Soon they will all be able to join him. :)

Much Bigger Than Last Time....

Motherhood, oh Motherhood....the most challenging job on earth and the one that no one can fully prepare you for. :) Such a blessing and so hard all at the same time...you gotta love it!!

Braden is 9 weeks old and he went in for his 2 month check up at the pediatrician today. The bottom line is that he is growing like a weed!! Chris and I always play a little game where we guess how much he will weigh at each appt. :) We were both WAY off this time! HA!! We were guessing around 11ish lbs...a little over, and Braden topped the scales at 12 lbs 5 oz. :) What a little man! :) He also grew 2 inches..so he is now 24 inches long. That would completely explain why he is almost grown out of all of his 0-3 months clothes already!! Goodness..I cannot keep up with this length unless he wants to wear highwaters! HA! :)

He is a little stinker b.c when we are at home he HATES tummy time. When I say "hate" I mean WAILING when we make him do it. You would think we were poking him with needles or something the way he goes nuts. :) Red face, crying so hard he cannot breathe-you get the picture. :) So yesterday at the doc they were testing his development, and sure enough he made huge liars out of Chris and I. He was a HUGE showoff!! As soon as she flipped him on his stomach he might as well have just started crawling for as good as he did!! :) HA!! He was all propped up showing off his neck and never made one peep. It really was crazy. The doc was laughing for sure. :) Maybe we should have people come to our house all the time when we do tummy time b.c apparently he likes to show off for them! :)

Everything checked out great at the appt...and he got his first round of vaccines. That was really NOT fun for me and I started tearing up when he was crying. That cry just completely breaks my heart. Ugh. :( Cannot stand it. But he did well despite how much I am sure it hurt...and the infant Tylenol kicked into high gear which was nice. He was sound asleep from about 5 pm on. :)

Braden had a little bit of a personality change starting last Sunday night. It was like someone flipped a switch and another baby had taken his place. We could not put our finger on what was wrong but it was safe to say that about 90% of the time that his eyes were open, so was his mouth....meaning Cryfest 2009!! We were shocked and had no idea what in the world was wrong with him!! So we wondered until we took him for his checkup...and it turns out that he just need an increase in his acid reflux medicine! Sheesh!! He has a slight case of it and he takes some medicine to make him feel better. We had not really noticed it affecting him too much since he had been born...until Sunday night!! Whew!! So glad we solved that one!! Turns out that he was on the same dosage at 12 pounds that he was on at 6 pounds, and he needed an increase for sure. Makes complete sense...just never thought of it. That must be why I am not a pediatrician. :) So we have our sweet baby back..and that is all that matters. :)

He has a really good schedule down now which is such a huge relief for Chris and I. He goes down for the night between 8 and 9, and gets out of his crib in the morning between 8 and 9. Heaven! :) He only gets up to eat once between 5 and 6 am and we are working to drop that feeding. :) He has been eating very consistently...as this child does not miss a meal. :) He eats 6 times a day, every 3 hours... basically down to the minute. It is hysterical!! :) We are trying to finalize the daytime nap schedule and then hopefully all the pieces will fall into place. :) The hope is that it all comes together in the next 3 weeks before I head back to work. Here's hoping and praying! :)

Braden did a lot of fun things this past week again. We went to Square One, went and saw another movie, "Law Abiding Citizen", went out to eat a few times, went and ran a lot of errands, went and had lunch with Chris, had friends over to play, went to our Small Group Halloween social, and spent some good time outside. :) He is becoming quite the social butterfly! LOL! :)

Square One Fun......

I am part of a super fun ministry at church called Square One. It is a great little getaway each Tuesday for first time moms and their babies. I like to describe it as a place where you can feel safe asking the crazy questions, talking about how your life has just done a 180, learning from and encouraging one another, and laughing together. I really enjoy going and getting insights from other moms out there. :) We sit around and talk about how fun and crazy life is with a newborn, and we share our experiences. We also learn how to take care of ourselves and our marriages in the process. Hallelujah!! :)

It is good to know that when I am up in the middle of the night with my little one, that another mom is up with hers too. :) Praise God for other awesome women to share this new adventure with. God knew exactly when the perfect time was for me to go through my pregnancy..and it was a God send that I got to experience it with about 12-15 other ladies too. What joy..and how refreshing! :)

Pumpkin Carving 101

So you remember that we picked out our pumpkin from the pumpkin patch at Sweetberry Farm on Saturday, right? :) Well Sunday was pumpkin carving day!! Fun times!! :) Chris took the lead and did a fabulous job!! We owe our super cute pumpkin all to him. Thanks hubby...way to go! :) You might be a pro pumpkin carver one day!! :)

Sweetberry Farm....

The Bugbee house was swarming with excitement and lots of people this past weekend as Chris' family came to play!! His mom, dad, sister, brother, brother in law and our niece all came to Austin for some good fun. :) So we had a house full of laughs over bottles of wine, good food, cooing babies, football watching, and of course LOTS of pictures!! :) You know my craziness with pics...."must document everything!" HA! :)

On Saturday we went out to Sweetberry Farm in Marble Falls to attempt some fun fall pics. :) The goal was to get some shots of the family as well as some of the babies. Riley did great, and we got a lot of her since she is super mobile. I think Braden's good pumpkin shots might have to wait until next year! HA!! He was a little too young for all of the craziness that was going on out there on Saturday afternoon. And since he cannot sit up by himself, the picture taking was a little limited. :) We still had a great time, and he loved looking around and getting to see all of the action. I think good times were had by all. :)
